Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer, consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker writer, author and television presenter. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran has been a part of 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. As of February 2020, she had signed 53 deals for the show, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment to purchase 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 children from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was always changing jobs during Corcoran’s life. Her family often relied on the free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who was drunk occasionally and treated her mother with disrespect. Corcoran struggled with her education and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran was educated at a Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School.
